Does Alfresco Java API support monitoring folder tree for changes?

Such a feature is called Auditing. Combined with a behaviour as a custom data producer you can record changes in specific folder trees. Otherwise you can collect any changes with Auditing and filter the recorded data during subsequent evaluations.
