Can you provide more information about the error, e.g. log output from alfresco.log or catalina.out? Without knowing what specifically causes the generic error message it is impossible to suggest a workaround.
Also, Alfresco 3.4 is quite old and considered outdated. Is there any particular reason you are still using that old version and have not upgraded / cannot upgrade yet?
