how to exclude sites or folders from default search

Is there a configuration option available to exclude specific sites / folders / content from the default Alfresco Share search?

I have the same question, but for Alfresco 5d using SOLR. I want to exclude a particular site (called 'archive') from the general search. Is this possible?
