Will I be able to configure Alfresco to send email notifications to my outlook server? I would really like people to know when they have been added to a workflow, but don't have to sit and refresh the website.

Yes.   But there's no such thing as an outlook server?

Yes, that is true. Outlook is running on an exchange server.
