I've applied the SharePoint protocol amp to the community edition of Alfresco 4.0.1. I was to ensure that Alfresco uses SSL when opening files using the SharePoint protocol. I followed the instructions as outlined in http://docs.alfresco.com/4.2/topic/com.alfresco.enterprise.doc/tasks/SharePoint-HTTPS-setup.html (&, based on the experiences of other, ignored the change to share-config-custom.xml).
In my alfresco-global.properties I set up the required vti.server properties, including vti.server.external.protocol=https However, alfresco was still trying to open the file in http and from debugging the jsp it looks like the protocol property is not set in the JSON object that's used.
A work around of sorts is to include the https protocol in the vti.server.external.host setting, but I would have thought I should be able to specify the protocol elsewhere (therefore, making it easier to maintain).
FYI for anyone interested: I managed to get my hands on an enterprise instance of 4.0.1 - vti.server.external.protocol <B>IS</B> being picked and used correctly in this instance (which is what I want)
