We currently have OnBase 12.0 installed, but I am the only user that is upgraded at the desktop. Consequently, all of my users are still pointed to the 11.01 appserver. I am getting ready to use Workflow Studio and it's asking which appserver I want to connect to. I'm not sure if I'll get all of my users upgraded to V12.0 ahead of the next workflow rollout. So if I make the workflow updates to the 11.01 server, I want to confirm the steps I'll need to take once I'm ready to have all users upgrade to V12.0. I assume I will have to use the export/import feature to take the updated workflow from the 11.01 appserver to the 12.0 appserver. Also, can I use the 12.0 product Worklfow Studio with an 11.01 appserver?
I would really appreciate some guidance with the proper approach to this as my workflow project is on a tight timeline and I want to avoid any missteps. Thanks.

WFStudio must use the 12.0 app server, it will fail to open the repository if you point it to an 11.0 app server.
If your 11 and 12 app servers are pointing to the same database (thus you must have upgraded your database to the 12.0 schema) then any configuration you do via WFStudio will work in 11 providing it is not sometihng that is new functionality for 12.0 (like Unity life cycles, ownership etc...)
If your 11 and 12 app servers are using different databases then you cannot use WFStudio to change the configuration in 11, instead you can continue to use the 11 OnBase configuration client to make those changes and export those changes, you would then use the 12.0 OnBase configuration client to import those changes (the file format is not compatible with WFStudios export format).

Just to be explicit, if you upgrade your database to the 12.0 schema then you can point your 11 and 12 app servers to the same database. You can then point WFStudio to the 12 app server and any changes will be visible to the 11.0 clients (which continue to point to the 11 app server).

Richard,
Thanks for the quick response. Yes, both appservers point to the same database, so I will proceed with Workflow Studio using the 12.0 appserver. I won't be using any new functionality for this particular workflow - basically just expanding on what already exists - but, I'd rather do it in WFS than Config. I appreciate the information.

Richard,
Yes, pretty confident the database was upgraded, but will confirm with my reseller. Thanks for making sure I'm taking all factors into consideration.
