Roadmap to share-discontinuation?

Dear all,

I have read a lot of hints towards the discontinuation of Alfresco share. I have not, however, found solid information like a roadmap.

Is there information available as to when share will finally be discontinued? If not, is there at least some solid information, that share actually will be discontinued? Will there be a different roadmap between community/enterprise? Has it already been communicated what the intended replacement of share is?

Kind regards,

Jonathan

There honestly is no solid information out there (provided by Alfresco) about a roadmap for the discontinuation of Alfresco Share. Any such roadmap and plans for ADF/ACA/Digital Workspace to succeed Share for the majority of use cases would commit to a specific development / release plan, and Alfresco has tried its best to avoid any such commitments for years now, as they have always had trouble hitting any of the target dates they did communicate in the past. The only solid information we have so far is that Alfresco has committed to supporting / maintaining Share through 2022.

There are also no clear / direct replacements of Share in the pipeline - ADF / ACA / Digital Workspace only focus on a narrow sub-set of use cases concerning rather trivial file/folder management, which may be combined with processes using Activiti / Alfresco Process Services, since a lot of the secondary capabilities of the Alfresco Repository supporting Share will also likely be discontinued when Share bites the dust.
