How can I access a process or task variable in my custom Stencil component?

I am developing a custom Stencil component to display content stored in a process variable, very similar to showing the content on a form using the out of the box component called "Display Value".

I need to access my process variable in my Angular Controller code inorder to display it in the HTML code. Is there a way to do this?

Has anyone encountered a similar requirement? Could someone guide me...
