In Alfresco 5, does anybody know how to configure the "View in CIFS" link?

I have tried the settings below in the "alfresco-global.properties" file, however, I do not see the cifs link.

cifs.pseudoFiles.shareURL.enabled=true
cifs.pseudoFiles.shareURL.fileName=__Share.url

The reason this would be helpful, is so the users can click the cifs link and open the file directly, edit, save, then close the file, without having to upload the file again.  I believe this would eliminate a step and potential for error.

Thanks.

Hello,

that setting you tried is for the "View in Share" link in CIFS. I believe you are looking for a "View in CIFS" link within Share. I am not aware of anything like this in standard Alfresco but you should be able to add something like this via a Share / Surf customization module. The document links section within document details would be a good option or you can also use a custom document library action.

Regards
Axel

Thank you for your expertise.

You are correct, that did add an extra link in the cifs share.

Earlier Alfresco versions, it seems, in the Document Details view there is a link called "View in CIFS".  This is exactly what I am looking for in Alfresco 5.

Does this functionality not exist anymore out of the box?

As far as I know, the "View in CIFS" link was only part of Explorer and not Share. With removal of Explorer, this link has gone away too. There are a couple of potential reasons why that link is not part of default functionality in Share - from browser compatibility issues to interface cluttering / end-user confusion e.g. if Share provides a link for every way a file can be accessed…
To summarize: No - it does not exist anymore but can be added through customization.
