Hello
Our company is in a process of offering an Enterprise J2EE portal platform (including Enterprise WCM) to one of our enterprise clients.
Please your answers to following questions ASAP regarding Liferay Portal and WebSphere Portal:
1.   Does Alfresco WCM support BIDIRECTIONAL languages as hebrew? Technical How?
2.   We would like to customize the Alfresco WCM code continuously. What LICENSE/SUPPORT do we need?
Please provide PRICE LISTS for non-profit academic portal.
3.   Our technical team evaluated (not deeply!) the WCM preview and has some difficulties about:
3.1.    Content viewing through JSR168 portlets as there is no out-of-the-box/sample portlet for Web Content Viewing.
PLEASE provide some directions for viewing Alfresco WCM repository through JSR168 Portlets in Liferay/Websphere. Any Samples would be much appreciated.
3.2.   As of our understanding the current cont viewing is very simple and does not support built-in content NAVIGATION, as these features in Magnolia and IBM Workplace WCM (Aptrix).
3.3.   Are there any add-on tools which could be used to simplify the content authoring (xsd/xsl/tfl) for end-users? Any SUGGESTIONS?
Your assistance would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Here is our responses, as best can be provided:

1  Unknown.  The Preview release does not support UTF-8 character
encoding for form-inputted data.  This is a filed issue for the GA
release.  Theoretically, with UTF-8 support, any client-browser
configured for Hebrew should be able to input data correctly into
a form.  This is dependent on (a) enabled UTF-8 inputs by GA and
    (b) subsequent testing.

2.  You will need an Alfresco support and maintanence agreement.
Please email sales@alfresco.com and they can assist you with
more details and specifics on pricing.

3.1.  We do have a pre-built portlets for Liferay for Web Content Viewing
(and in-context editing).  These portlets work within Liferay and
are not known to work with other portals.  Post GA, we do have
plans to formalize a set of base JSR168-compliant portlets for this
and other capabilities.  That said, building these portlets is relatively
straight-forward and we welcome any community contributions.

3.2.  Navigation can be driven off directory structure or metadata.  We
will be shipping with updated examples with our GA release to
        highlight both scenarios.

3.3.  XMLSpy is generally a well-regarded authoring tool for XSD and
XSLT in particular.  I am unaware of specific tools for Freemarker.

Please note that in 2007 a goal is to provide an interactive form
for users registering a form to be able to use an existing XSD
(authored in some 3rd party tool) or create on one-the-fly during
the Create Form Wizard itself.  This capability is known to be
critical to speed rollout of new forms, and is something we would
like to target for mid-2007 (no commitments as yet).

Hope this answers your questions.  To follow-up on any details regarding
these questions to support your opportunity, I recommend emailing
sales@alfresco.com.

Our target for 1.0 functional complete / BETA is mid-December.  Our target for GA is end December.

A demo can be arrange for our Liferay integration by contacting our Sales team at sales@alfresco.com.  They can walk you through the portlet integration and some of the more exciting capabilities like in-context editing.

Kevin;

We have used the lifray+Alfresco bundle already. The Liferay integration does not include the WCM and it's for Lifray 4.0.
We need Alfresco WCM+Liferay 4.1.2.
Any suggestions?

Thanks
Hertzel

Any other code/samples+some directions/docs for viewing the WCM content/JCR could help too.
We will try to adopt it as a JSR168 porlet.

Yes, the current portlets were built prior to the availability of the WCM preview release.  These portlets do need to be updated based on our new WCM capabilities.  I cannot give a precise timeframe for this, but it is a high priority on our list of planning items post GA (end of year).
