Hi,

I want to move from Alfresco Community edition 2.1 to Community Edition 5.0. I understand from the upgrade path (http://docs.alfresco.com/5.0/concepts/upgrade-path.html) that there is no direct upgrade path but requires 3 intermediate upgrades.
But where can I download the required intermediate binaries (2.2.x, 2.8, 3.4.x). I can't find anywhere. Please help

Thanks

The community versions can be downloaded from the wiki.

Thank you.

Alfresco wiki pointed me to Sourceforge.net for downloads but I can't find the downloads for 2.2, 2.8.I'm looking into
http://sourceforge.net/projects/alfresco/files/%5BArchive%5D/%5BArchive%5D%20Alfresco/. Am I looking in wrong repository ?

I also searched releases page https://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Category:Releases but binaries are not available for 2.2 and 2.8 versions.

Please help pointing me the right location to download the required binaries.

Thank you

I don't know the actual answer to your question, but I can share what I do know:

* Migrating from 2.x to 5.x without the help of Alfresco Enterprise Support will be a very challenging task.

* I believe that 2.2 was only released for Enterprise Edition. The suggested upgrade path reflects that we only certify upgrades from Enterprise Edition releases.

* The key lesson from the suggested upgrade path is that you cannot go directly from 2.x to 5.x, but you need to upgrade to the latest release of each major version (2.x, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x).

* This process is going to be time consuming and challenging, especially if you have customizations. If you go that route, you need to make sure to thoroughly test your system.

* My advice is to not upgrade the repository through all those steps. Instead, use a tool like TSG's OpenMigrate to export the content from the 2.x repository and import it into a 5.0.d repository. This will also give you the opportunity to improve your content model, content organization, and do other spring cleaning tasks.

Good luck.

Thank you very much for your suggestion.

I looked at OpenMigrate tool. But as per the documentation the software supports Alfresco 3.1 Or higher which means I cannot use it to configure Alfresco 2.1 source. I also cant find the older version of openMigrate which supports Alfresco2.1.  Please let me know if openmigrate is possible for Alfresco2.1 Or Would you recommend any such repository migration tools which can extract from Alfresco2.1 and import into Alfresco5.x.

Here is the documentation I read it from the site:
OpenMigrate Software features:
Configurable Multi-System Support – OpenMigrate’s modular architecture allows source and target systems to be configured independently as needed. OpenMigrate supports the following systems:
Documentum (4i and higher)
Alfresco (3.1 and higher)

Thanks in Advance

I think your options are to upgrade to 3.x and then use Open Migrate to get to 5.x, or write custom webscripts in 2.x to export and then do then import them into 5.x with the Bulk Import Tool or OpenMigrate.
