I have seen this same problem even after installing the correct version of the community version. It seems there are quite a few posts from people having difficulty with Studio. From what I can tell the current build just doesn't work. You can get past the template association step by finding the Template Associations… item in the menu at the top of the screen under the heading Current Page. However, once you get passed that, you probably won't get much further with the tutorial because the tutorials seem like they may be based on a previous build. And, The Display List component blows up when you put it on a page.
I have never really had much luck with following any of the Alfresco tutorials because they always seem like that don't match up with the actual downloadable version of the app.
I was considering looking into building everything from the source to see if some of the issues have been resolved, but I really don't want to resort to dealing with that.
