hi there,

having a heck of a time getting A.A.A.R. installed on windows 7, pentaho community 5.2 and alfresco community 5.

finally, getting to the point where AAAR_Install.bat is, I believe, attempting to load the transformation and I'm getting the following:

What version of Java are you running?

The only two issues that I had when starting out with AAAR is making sure I had the right java version and also the right driver for the connection.

Hi Charlie,

Please confirm you have a problem during the installation process.
And again: please confirm you are installing AAAR using the web interface and not the AAAR_Install script.

The problem seems to be on the Pentaho side, when the installation process try to upload the sample reports in the Pentaho repository.

Tested in the Windows environment… and it works!
So, the problem is elsewhere… please let us know some further details to understand (and solve) the problem.

thanks so much for the response.

ok, so I've backed up a bit and am relying on the AAAR install interface. the install seems to go fine as I can see the databases it creates.

this is what I'm getting when I attempt the extract:

Please, enter the <data-integration> path (es.:C:\data-integration): C:\Pentaho\data-integration

You are going to execute this command:

is the installer supposed to write something to the users .kettle directory? a repositories.xml file? I've noted that the AAAR app is having troubles writing to my file system… for example, the config form is unable to make changes to the AAARConfiguration.xml file. I've had to populate that myself.

what are we supposed to find in the .kettle directory?

thanks again.

I got it all working… not sure exactly what the glitch was but… i backed out of everything and i found that if i ran the install while running everything "as administrator" in windows 7 then the install works.

thanks for everyones attention to this!

Hi Vikash,

I suppose you need to process a prpt report stored into the Pentaho repository and receive in output a PDF (or similar) and, finally, you would like to upload the result into Alfresco, isn't it?
If yes, you can take a look at the 'Report all' job in AAAR using the spoon UI (you have to install it to examine it).
This is a Pentaho Data Integration job that develop exactly this.

To complete the answer I tell you that Pentaho is able to make the job/transformations published as REST services.
All the jobs/transformations in this folder (except for the one with the underscore):
https://github.com/fcorti/alfresco-audit-analysis-reporting/tree/master/endpoints/kettle
Are published as REST services in Pentaho.

Finally, you can call the REST from Java in the way you want. 😉

I hope this helps you.
