Sites Manager actions not working

When I go to Admin Tools >> Sites Manager and click on the Actions >> Become Site Manager, the "I'm a site manager" never changes from no to yes.  In order to add myself as site manager, I must go to groups and find the site manager group and add myself to it.  The Become Site Manager menu used to work but it stopped.  What do I need to do to fix this?

Can you please state which version of Alfresco you are currently using? I have used that action in the 5.1.g version (201605-GA) without issues so far. Using the action may require a page reload for all menu options / dashlet displays to be updated though.
