Hi!

I installed Alfresco Community 4.2.f on Ubuntu Server 14.04 64bit successfully. I have created a site, and tried to send invite using the "..Add External Users", clicked add button. set the role to Manager, then the message prompts "1 invites sent out, 0 failures". but there's no mail coming on the email address i specified.

Pls help.

thanks

Have you configured the Outbound SMTP server?

I have configured the outbound smtp server using this guide, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1Y6H_Whtj0

Please post your alfresco configuration and any errors from your alfresco log file.

Make sure you don't post anything that should remain secret like an account or password.

Hallo Mr. Rogers,

i have installed alfresco community on Windows and Ubuntu. in the last 2 weeks i study the alfresko wiki for problems, but i find no answer to my problem.

i have config the alfresco-global.properties with my Exchange server settings, an an other one with world4you.com settings. nothing is working.

by inviting an user the message is. 1 invited. 0 errors but no e-mail was send.

must i have an local SMTP server on my Windows machine!?

do you have an idea what is the problem!?

this is my config.

many thx

#Outbound Email Configuration

#———-
mail.host=
mail.port=25
mail.username=user
mail.password=pw
mail.from.default=my@email.at
mail.smtps.auth=true
mail.smtp.timeout=120

There is no need to run a local SMTP even a remote will do depends on your network configuration

You just have to fill the details below the OUTbound email configuration

mail.host= This is the name (FQDN) of your SMTP server
mail.port= the port of your SMTP (25 is the default port)
etc

These are some values i have set in my global properties and work fine

mail.host=******
mail.protocol=smtp
mail.port=25
mail.username=*******
mail.password=*******
mail.encoding=UTF-8
mail.from.default=*******
mail.from.enabled=false
mail.smtp.auth=true
mail.smtp.timeout=100000
mail.smtps.starttls.enable=false

Once you have these settings correct MAKE SURE you set the timeout to a big value

mail.smtp.timeout=100000 works for me
