Can you check that you don't have this problem:
http://forums.alfresco.com/viewtopic.php?t=1178

or this problem:

As these are common linux issues that may be causing your problem.

Thanks,

Kevin

Thanks for the links, but no its non of them, I don't even get that far.

I've downloaded the alfresco-1.2.1-linux-community.bin and do a chmod 755.
After that I start it up through ./alfresco…….bin [enter]
within the next two secconds I already get the segmentation fault.
Normaly I would think that the download is corrupted, so I ll try again.
New download (from another mirror), again the chmod and the ./alfre….bin [enter]
But elas, nothing but an error "segmentation fault" …..  :?

I just had the same error on FC5.  Was this ever resolved?

If you have the kernel version 2.6.16 then with certain FC5 installations with SELinux enabled, the Bitrock installer will cause a segmentation fault.

As a workaround, downgrade the kernel to 2.6.15.

The Bitrock installer 3.7.0 release solves this issue, and Version 1.3 installers will be built on this release.

Hope this helps,

Also, sometimes these crashes are due to SELinu, please try the following as root:

/usr/sbin/setenforce 0

to temporarily disable SELinux and then run the installer
