Scanning Integration

Hi!

I'm busy analyzing Alfresco as a DMS, and up to this stage compare it favourably against magnolia, knowledge tree and quite a couple of other instances.

One of the most important features that I'm missing is Mass Importation of Old documents (ie those before Alfresco have been implemented). I believe however that this can be accomplished via ftp upload and a proper rules set.

But what about paper scanning integration?

There is AFAIK plugins being developed/in use for Kofax and eCopy, but what about open source solutions?

Any ideas or help on this?

Do you know of any open source scanning solutions?  If they're any good, we'd consider integrating and bundling with them.
