Re: Applying tags to a document

I saw how to create categories for a content in Alfresco. My doubt is how can I give tags for a content. My requirement is if a document comes in a particular folder/space, that document should be given some tags like inquiry number, inquiry date, assigned to, product/service, region etc. How can I achieve this? Please help me.

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

There is a rule that you can add to a folder that will add tag(s) to incoming documents.

Investigate the Rule UI in Share or Explorer to see how this can be done.

Cheers,
Roy

I wrote a tutorial on a similar topic.  I suggest giving it a read and seeing if it's what you're looking for!

Hello Roy,

There is a rule that you can add to a folder that will add tag(s) to incoming documents.

There is no such rule action by default.

Be it with a just-installed Alfresco or with the Cloud Trial, be it Explorer or Share, the only rule actions I can see are:
  • Add aspect

  • Link to category

  • Execute script

  • (other unrelated actions)
There is no "Add tag" action.

Note: "Link to category" has a "General > Tags" section, but it is always empty. Just check the Cloud Trial: there are many tags affected to documents, but the  "General > Tags" in "Link to category" is empty.

Thank you very much!
