Question about Alfresco configuration

Hi iam configuring alfresco to some other ports and following the above link to perform the same. I want to know why we doing the first step ie to rename alfresco.war to new-context.war please help to clear this confusion.

The document you refer to is for "steps if you want to deploy Alfresco to a context path that is not /alfresco."   if you don't want to rename the war file then you are looking at the wrong document.

I guess you was not able to understand my question. I know what document says. What i want to know is why do we need to rename war file.

You don't need to rename the war file to change the port configuration.   Could you clarify your question please.
