Alfresco Community edition supports open-source DBs, specifically PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB.

In addition to the above, Alfresco Enterprise edition also supports Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server (MS SQL) and IBM DB2. Hence, for MS SQL Server, you would need to consider using Alfresco Enterprise.

For completeness, it should also be noted that:

- all of the above options (apart from DB2) are also available via AWS RDS (managed DB option) if you're deploying onto AWS EC2

- the Alfresco SDK also supports H2 for local development

For more details of the supported stacks for Alfresco Enterprise, please refer to: Supported Platforms | Alfresco

Regards.
