Preview fails due to space before port number

I'm implementing WCM in alfresco community 3.3g on linux server.  I've configured the virtualization, but the preview 'eyeball' link doesn't work.  I've determined that there's and embedded space between the colon and the port number in the generated URL, like this:

http://admin.some-site.www--sandbox.AAA-BBB-CCC-DDD.ip.alfrescodemo.net: 8180/

When I copy paste the URL into the browser, but take the space out, like this:

http://admin.some-site.www--sandbox.AAA-BBB-CCC-DDD.ip.alfrescodemo.net:8180/

It works.  Any idea where the space is coming from, and how I can get rid of it?

Nothing like answering your own question.  Just in case you have the same problem, here's the answer.

In the file /opt/alfresco/virtual-tomcat/conf/alfresco-virtserver.properties

the line

alfresco.virtserver.domain=AAA-BBB-CCC-DDD.ip.alfrescodemo.net

had a trailing space.
