LDAP-AD Groups disappeared

Ok so i broke alfresco, i was playing with my group query to limit it to only import groups that were members of an alfresco_users group.

Long story short it didn't work, then the next day after alfresco did its daily full sync, all the groups disappeared, i restored my alfresco-global.properties file to the original with the previously working ldap query but even after alfresco did a full sync none of the groups have been imported. is there a way I can force it to do an actual full FOR REAL group sync? all the documentation regarding forcing group sync is out dated and refers to files that don't exist and links to outdated or woefully incomplete documentation.

Is there some way i can clear whatever it is alfresco is looking at to decide if groups need to be pulled in again.

For some reason, now if i add new groups to active directory and restart alfresco, the new group appears, but the next morning the new group has vanished….

any help or advice would be great.

we've moved to another document management solution, the deprecation of the good documentation site combined with the inactivity of the community has taken alfresco out of the running in our evaluation.

I feel that alfresco's motivation to allow support from the community is not their it took weeks to see my reply posted with follow up information, if you want to sell support contracts fine but crippling the community is only going to drive away those who who don't have the time to wait weeks to ask a question nor the disposable budget to spend dozens of thousands of dollars on a test.
