Installling 5.0a

I am trying to evaluate Alfresco 5.0a as a potential CMS for a website and am having problems installing it?

I can get an install working with the share.war and alfresco.war working but awe.war and wcmqs.war are failing…

By the looks of it there are two class not found errors in the 'localhost' log file

org.alfresco.web.scripts.servlet.StaticAssetCacheFilter
org.tuckey.web.filters.urlrewrite.UrlRewriteFilter

Is this the best place to post this kind of issue?

Couldn't find anything in the search!

Where did you find web quick start for 5.0.a? I don't see it on the 5.0.a file list and it doesn't appear to install via the binary installer, even when the option is selected under advanced options.

It was installed with the Alfresco Community installer?

I used the 32bit Windows installer and the tomcat webapps directory included the AWE.WAR and WCMQS.WAR files - although they don't load - there are errors

Interestingly I have just re-installed this on my local drive and these files were _not_ installed so I will do some investigation - the dates are different too? (see attached)

I just want a version of Alfresco (Community!) that I can evaluate to create/manage a web site, not just documents etc

I will try an earlier version - 4.2f? 4.2b? as there seems to be the AMP archives for the web aspects for these, but I could not find any for 5.0a either!

As an aside this forum presumably runs on Alfresco and it is not too clever - when I initially load it I get a huge font and have to refresh to get a more readable size font and then the font for message creation is pretty small!

I have just reinstalled 5.0a Windows 32bit on a test machine and selected the 'custom install' option, unticked Sharepoint and ticked Web Quick Start and got the AWE.WAR and WCMQS.WAR files as before?

They do not start though, the error messages from the catalina log file are

snipped…

These forums run on Drupal, not Alfresco. In fact, many (actually, most at this point) of Alfresco's customer-facing web sites run on Drupal.

I get an error when i want to install an AMP file. When starting bin/apply_amps.sh the following message occurs:

This script will apply all the AMPs in amps and amps_share to the alfresco.war and share.war files in /opt/alfresco5/tomcat/webapps
Press control-c to stop this script . . .
Press any other key to continue . . .

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: org/alfresco/repo/module/tool/ModuleManagementTool : Unsupported major.minor version 51.0

The error message appears also if no amp file is in the folder.

Thanks!

Unsupported major.minor version usually means you are trying to work with Java code that was compiled with a different version of the JDK than the one you are currently using. Alfresco 5 requires JDK 1.7. Is that what you're using?

Apologies, forgot to post my alfresco.log file!

Here it is…

From your log it appears you do not have the Web Quick Start AMP applied to your Alfresco WAR. I found the wcmqs.war and the web-editor WARs for 5.0a in http://artifacts.alfresco.com. I have not yet found the AMP.

Once we find it, it is easy to apply to the WAR, then you should be good.
