How to use Alfresco as a WCM?

Hi,

Me & my team are exploring open source CMS. Our primary focus is WCM.
It seems that Alfresco is primarily a DMS and has very limited OOTB WCM capabilities.
Can someone please throw some light on this matter?

Whatever limited WCM capabilities Alfresco might have, how to use them? How to configure Alfresco as a WCM?

Alfresco has had various Wcm capabilities over the years and does power many, many web sites however its most successful application is as a back-end content repository.      

There is a "web quick start" sample application demonstrating this approach.

The deprecated and currently being removed AVM was a web authoring environment to control, and deploy web assets.

Thanks for your reply.
So "web quick start" is a just sample application which has been developed to guide people the way to go in terms of building a wcm on top of Alfresco…Right?
And Alfresco doesnt come shipped with its own WCM as such…Am i right in assuming this?

So the way forward for us should be to get an idea of "developing a WCM Web App for Alfresco" by having a look at the WQS source code. This is what we thought earlier as well….But theres another issue to that. See below post:

The Alfresco Maven All-In-One Archetype isnt creating the WQS folder now.
The WCQMS project was removed for this issue : https://code.google.com/p/maven-alfresco-archetypes/issues/detail?id=130


So can you please show us the way forward?

what I know that alfresco stopped supporting WCM, you can use Web Quick Start or CMIS.

You can integrate drupal/plone with alfresco,and use alfresco as back-end,drupal/plone as front-end.
