the alfresco syestem can run correctly at server.

I want to access it at another computer which is installed windows 7.

When I use IE to access http://{ip}:{port}/alfresco/webdav , it can show the correct result as a tree structure.

but when i use 'add a network location' , after i input 'http://192.168.0.10:8080/alfresco/webdav' and click next

the network location can be added successfully, but 3 shortcut will be created.  I can see the tree stucture at the left sidebar of windows explorer. but when i click the shortcut of network location , no response for me.

how solve this problem ? thanks!!

as far as i know, to use webdav over Win 7 there're those requeiremts:
- SSL
- a valid Certificate
- DigestMD5 Authenitfication
- probably much more.
Exact Specification? N/A

- so you would need to configure your Alfresco to meet those requierements,
according to some Jira-Tickets, upcoming Alfresco-verions should be able to handle this more conveniently…

anyone correct me if iam worng!

I'll come back to this thread most likely. I cannot get webdav working with Windows 7 currently. I couldn't get it working under Liferay either. I was hoping to get rid of Liferay's integrated document management and utilize Alfresco. I also hoped it would have better webdav support.

Just wanted to note, that while digest auth is required, that can be changed in W7 with a registry change outlined here: http://www.liferay.com/community/forums/-/message_boards/message/3987708

There is only two things you need to do to get Windows 7 to Webdav correctly.

One is the BasicAuth registry setting that has been mentioned multiple times..

The other is because Microsoft really can't decide whether or not to use UNC's or URL's… I can't stand UNC's… but I digress..

In the "Add A Network Location…" use an UNC… Works everytime if you are using standard SSL ports.  (i.e. 443 for SSL).

So instead of https://somesite.com/alfresco/webdav/  use this instead:
\\somesite.com@SSL/alfresco/webdav/

As for Non-SSL, or other ports, no clue… don't use it…

Ya… I really wish they'd standardize ..

Cheers

Funny thing is with Windows XP, it uses the URL and not the UNC..

i.e. the https://somesite.com/alfresco/webdav/

Can anyone help with this?  I am using non-SSl, have made the registry change, and can not get Win7 to browse WebDav.
I actually can get as far as viewing the folders, datadictionary, Sites, etc in \\myserver@8080\alfresco but when I open any of the folders, Alfresco presents me with nothing.  The Sites folder should have all of the sites in it, but it doesn't.  It does in WinXP.
Interestingly the VTI functionality is working fine.  I can go to \\myserver@7070\alfresco and browse sites.  But opening files directly this way has currupted many documents.
I'd really like to get WebDav up and going in Win7.
Thanks,
MThomas

I figured this out.  I followed the steps found here http://issues.alfresco.com/jira/browse/DOC-201

Turns out that by mapping the drive the authentication is properly passed.  After I did this the performance was atrocious so I googled around and found this.
"Switch off checkbox 'Automaticaly detect setting' in IE8 / Tools / Internet Options / Connections / LAN settings / Automatic configuration"

Now I can browse my shares and all is working with lightening speed!

In Internet Explorer, open the Tools menu, then click Internet Options.
Select the Connections tab.
Click the LAN Settings button.
Uncheck the “Automatically detect settings” box.
Click OK and get out!

This speed my webdav up!
