Execute .bat from Alfresco

Do you know if it would be possible to run a script (.bat or .sh (linux)) from Alfresco interface to be run in the server side?

Wherever you can run a piece of Java you can call a batch file on the server.   So thats at least rules, actions, workflows, web scripts, transformers and deployments.
