Error: no `server ' JVM at [..]/Alfresco/[..]/libjvm.so

How to reproduce:
1) Run alfresco-community-3.4.a-installer-linux-x32.bin
2) Unselect SharePoint, Records Management, Quickr
3) Choose installation type Easy
4) Select non-yet existing folder for installation
5) Select "Use existing MySQL" and enter details (same bug with bundled anyway)
6) Enter admin password "admin"
7) "Now ready to begin […]" -> Forward
😎 Alfresco starts copying a lot of files.
9) When it is about to finish, the following message is shown:

Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly
Error running /home/nico/programs/Alfresco/java/bin/java -jar /home/nico/programs/Alfresco/bin/alfresco-mmt.jar install /home/nico/programs/Alfresco/amps /home/nico/programs/Alfresco/tomcat/webapps/alfresco.war -directory -nobackup : Error: no `server
' JVM at `/home/nico/programs/Alfresco/java/jre/lib/i386/server
/libjvm.so'.

Note the pesky newline character at the end of "server". This newline is unfortunately included in the path to libjvm.so
If I try to start alfresco.sh anyway, it says:

Error: no `server^M' JVM at `/home/nico/programs/Alfresco/java/jre/lib/i386/server^M/libjvm.so'

Retried 2 times, always the same problem.
Also same problem with Enterprise version (tried 3 times).
Also same problem when installing as root.

Any idea?
Anybody knows where this "server^M" value is configured, so that I can remove the pesky newline manually?

Thanks a lot!

The JIRA bug is still in status "Unresolved" "Needs Info"

As I said there, I am ready to give them any info they want.
But they didn't ask me any question.
So, I am wondering what "Needs Info" means. I thought it meant that they asked something to the reporter and are waiting for his answer. Am I wrong?
