Error dir.root restoring backup in alfresco 3

I restored my weekend backup with this steps:
     1) remove current alf_data.
     2) copy backup alf_data to dir.root.
     3) empty database.
     4) restore database with mysql weekend backup.
     5) remove "alf_data/lucene_indexes"
     6) set "index.recovery=FULL"

The "alf_data" and "DB" are the originals that are outside the instance where Alfresco is recovered.

But I always have the "dir.root" error showed:

My dir.root is the same as defined in that files:
     - "Alfresco/tomcat/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/repository.properties"
     - "Alfresco/tomcat/shared/classes/alfresco/extension/custom-repository.properties"

I want to restore all my backup data ("alf_data" folder and "mysql" backup file). I don't want to do this loosing my content. This is installed in ubuntu server.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi cperez,

There are many things that can go wrong in a restore.

You might want to check the permissions on the alf_data directory. Also, when backing up Alfresco you'll need to follow the backup procedures described in here: http://docs.alfresco.com/3.4/concepts/backup-intro.html
Make sure you follow the instruction in the same order (specially for hot backups).

What you have described should work.    So it's the detail of a step that's wrong.  Or something you have not described.

P.S there was no need to change the file below web inf.     dont want to see that being done.

I change it to a previously backup and with the same steps i used works.

Maybe there was a error in some file.
