Here is an interesting bug/feature/problem:
We have a directory: Foo. Under that directory, for several months, people have been creating and moving documents around as they care to. Something magical happened (still trying to determine what) and suddenly, the tree view of the directory on the right side shows the library but the main pannel shows nothing but a red bar indicating "no items."
How can I either, retrive the items in the main view (prefered) or move them to another accessible directory?
Thanks

Usually, red bar with no items label indicates a repository error…
Check your alfresco logs to see what happens and activate firebug developer tools.

Hi,
It could be problem with permissions on the listed nodes/ folders. As jspuchau said, you can use alfresco.log to find more information.
You can also use NodeBrowser to find child folders + permission details on the child folders.
BTW, have you logged in as Admin or something else?
Hope this helps you.
