Design time process variables and task variables

Is there a way to define design time process variables and task variables in activiti

You can use 'data objects'. Note that this is not yet supported in the new modeler (but it is supported in the xml)

These are process variables.
How about task variables?

No, not for task variables.

The only thing that you could do is to add task listeners that create the variables when the task is created.
