Community Edition - Tomcat Query

Hello,

We have the Community Edition 4.0.0 installed, with this we can only run Tomcat 6.0.29

A recent health check of our systems has identified that we should really be running 6.0.35 or higher but we would need to upgrade to Community Edition 4.0.1 as part of this.

Can anyone advise how I would request a higher version of Community Edition and whether there would be any issues in upgrading?

I have tried to email Support but they have redirected me to the forums as we quite rightly do not have a support agreement.

Many thanks in advance,

Paul

Apologies,

I have now downloaded the latest version of Alfresco Community. I take it that if I am not worried about losing any content, there would be no issue in uninstalling 4.0.0 and installing 4.2.0?

If you just want to upgrade your Tomcat to the latest 6.0 version, it should be sufficient to copy over the Tomcat .jar files and restart.
Otherwise, an upgrade from 4.0 to 4.2 should be pretty painless (of course, a working backup is a good thing. On the other side, it is always good to have a backup).
And of couse: it depends if and how much customizations you have applied to Alfresco.
I just cant tell how to this with one of the installers, haven't use them for ages 🙂

Cheers

Theres no reason that you can't run 4.0.0 on a later version of Tomcat.   Its just that that the version specified is the version used for testing.   And there are lots of changes since 4.0.0 so that has its own merits.

Many thanks for your advice.

Just had a thought - Can I just run the 4.2.0 installer and it will upgrade everything including Tomcat without losing any work in our 4.0.0 version?

Many thanks,

Paul

Just running the installer will not do the trick.
Also replacing the .war files didn't work for me. Might be because 4.2 uses Tomcat 7 now.

See this post, worked fine for me.
