Hello together!

I'm a bloody beginner to Alfresco, which is now finally installed to my web server.
Is the following possible and how do I do it?

I want to upload bills to Alfresco and extract (manually) the sum to be payed and put it into a table to sum all my bills up.
Is there a way to automate this? Or at least a way to link an uploaded document into a field of an e.g. LibreOffice Calc Document?

Thanks for hints on where to look for this functionalities,
Guntram

Hi guntram,
You can use any OCR tool which extract your metadata from your bills (e.g. kofax or introspecQt ) once you successfully configured those you can manipulate using alfresco APIs.

You can write scheduler for checking newly arrival docs and process them, but here the case is OCR is now always right to extract perfect metadata.
So it would not be always reliable.

If u are particular about open source u can use ephesoft
or else u can use KOFAX

Thanks for the answers!

In fact, I'm not interested in automatic extraction of the data! Most of the bills are even handwritten, so no chance of getting them extracted. I will do this by hand.

What I wanted to know is how to link my uploaded documents to a database (or simply a libreoffice spreadsheet) and to (hand-)write their resp. debt values into the same table to be able to do calculations with them!

Is there a way to add an attribute to the upload formular and then associate it to a table column?

Thanks,
Guntram

Could you explain with one example as it is still not easy to visualize your case.
You can always add custom property with each document which could be your debt value.but rest of the thing is not clear.

Okay. Can you give me a keyword on what to search for the addition of a custom property?

After this, I simply want to keep track of this property. I'd like to have a table, which fills itself with the properties entered.
In addition it would be nice to sum up those values and edit them when necessary.

For a better visualization: I have (handwritten) bills (scanned) and I want to trace them (check/uncheck when they are paid).

You need to create custom aspect with custom property and that aspect you can attach to your contents.
