Assigning descendent tasks to a group member with a predecessor claim

I'm not sure if this question should be in the engine or design forum. My apologies if it is in the wrong place.

I have a process with multiple tasks and candidate groups (roles). I would like to establish an affinity for a particular user within a candidate group for all tasks with the same candidate group after an initial task is claimed. For example, if task 1, 5 and 8 can all be performed by the Accounting group, I would like the accountant that claims task 1 to be automatically assigned to tasks 5 and 8.

I can't see a vehicle within the engine or process definition for enabling / specifying this type of feature.

Hi Steve,

I would propose to set accountant that claims task 1 to a process variable. Use this variable in the assignee expression in the task 5,8.

Regards
Martin

Thanks for the response. That's pretty much what I thought.

This seems like it would be a pretty common business pattern. I admit that I'm a bit surprised that there isn't declarative support for it somewhere. Conceptually, it is very much like session affinity for a particular server instance in a Web cluster.
