Hello,
I'm evaluating the use of Alfresco as our Document Management System. I have bean searching the google and forums for a while and have discovered that the Alfresco Word 2003 addon should also work with MS office 2007, but I was unable to get it up and runing under office 2007. Please help me.

My problem is following, I have downloaded Office2003Addin, installed.
The problem is when I start the Word, Excel, poverpoint I can't see anywhere  new buttons or something like this.
When I dig deeper (Menu -> Word Options -> Add-ins) , I can see the alfresco plugin that it is registered in Office 2007 but in section Inactive Application Add-ins.
Than when I try to mange it (pulldown "Com Add-In" and then Manage), I got posibility to check the plugin, but after that when I come back to the list of add-in, the Alfresco Word 2003 is still inactive.

Do you have any suggestion where can be the problem or how can I activate the plugin ?

I'm having the exact same problem. Outlook 2007, add-in installs fine but then doesnt show up. Go into add-in manager and it shows inactive. When I try to make it active I get an error when clicking the checkbox (never actually lets me check it though).

Hi

I don't have Office 2007 handy to test with right now, but I do know the add-ins work with it. Could you try re-running the installer as the Administrator user please? i.e. Right-click the setup.exe and choose "Run as Administrator".

Thanks,
Mike

It actually runs as admin by default (has the shield overlay). However to be safe I did an uninstall than did a reinstall using the run as administrator and same problem. It says it installs fine but never shows up. When go to add-in manager is shows in active. When I choose to manage com add-ins I see it in the list along with my webex and google add-ins which are both checked but Alfresco is not. When I try to check it I get the following error:

"The connected state of the office add-ins registered in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE cannot be changed."

I would really like to use the program but I need office connectivity. PLEASE dont make me resort to Sharepoint Smiley Happy

Thanks for the help.

Just as an updated, I started word as administrator and was able to get around that registry error. I was able to check and enable it fine. However it didnt show up in the ribbon. I then closed word and reopened it and the add-in was back at disabled. Very strange. It appears Word is not recognizing it as a proper add-in and is disabling it.

If I try and manually add an addi-in at this same window it lets me browse to an exe or dll file. I browse the directory and select the AlfrescoWord2003.dll or the AlfrescoWord2003.dll.manifest and it tells me that they are not valid add-in files.

I can look at this in more detail tomorrow as part of another investigation.

In the meantime, can you confirm exactly which version of the Office add-ins you're trying with please? (i.e. where did you download the installer from?)

Also, have you switched off any of the User Access Control stuff in Vista at all?

Thanks,
Mike

I have tried the following:

alfresco-community-office2003-addins-2.1.0
alfresco-community-word2003-addin-2.1.0

And my office version is:

Word 12.0.6015.5000
Office 12.0.6.017.5000

Hi

There have been a couple of updates to the Office 2003 add-ins following the 2.1 Community release, most notably is to use the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive of the Windows registry rather than LOCAL_MACHINE to workaround Vista's UAC controls.

I've been doing some testing with Office 2007 on both Vista and XP and had success running the add-ins in both environments.

You can get these updates by grabbing a nightly build of the Office client installers, or wait for a (fairly) imminent updated community release.

Thanks,
Mike
