Alfresco Development

I have downloaded the Alfresco source code. I imported the project in eclipse but unable run or see the webpage as I can see while I install Alfresco in my machine. Is this source code is only for making SDK purpose or I can see the webpage if I run it in eclipse? Where I can found "Alfresco share", "Alfresco Explorer" in the source code, that is available in svn?

Please help me.

Alfresco Share is in the "Slingshot" project.

Alfresco Explorer is in the "Web Client" project.

Thanks for your kind reply. Now I have built Alfresco successfully, but after that when I give "http://localhost:8080/alfresco" in the browser, no login screen coming and only 16 tables have been created in mysql. Can u please help me out. I getting the following error,

You  have to set your perm gen , heap space settings in catalina.bat file.

Thanx for ur kind reply. I am just stuck in this building process. U suggested that I need to change heap space in catalina.bat, but when I install tomcat there is not any catalina.bat file in C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\bin. Only 4 files are there,bootstrap.jar,  tomcat6.exe, tomcat6w.exe, tomcat-juli.jar. What I will do, please suggest.

Hi Subhajit,

Which version of Alfresco you are using . If you are using alfresco V.3.4   then you have to make few settings.
Try the following:

1. Install Alfresco using default settings.
2. Open a command-prompt.
3. Go to c:\alfresco\tomcat\bin.
4. Type 'tomcat6w.exe //ES//alfrescoTomcat' (to edit the settings of this service)
5. Go to 'Java' tab of the resulting dialog box.
6. Replace default Java options with the following:

-Xms512M
-Xmx768M
-Dalfresco.home=@@BITROCK_INSTALLDIR@@
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote
-Dcatalina.base=C:\Alfresco/tomcat
-Dcatalina.home=C:\Alfresco/tomcat
-Djava.endorsed.dirs=C:\Alfresco/tomcat\endorsed
-XX:MaxPermSize=256m

For Previous versions of Alfresco , make the following changes in <install-alfresco>/alfresco.bat . Set the perm Gen and Heap size according to memory allocated to your computer
set JAVA_OPTS=-Xms512m -Xmx1024m -Xss1024k -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:NewSize=256m

Hi Subhajit,

Try  to remove your database , delete alf_data folder .
Create a new database , made the changes in alfresco-global.properties  to point it to new database.

If I want to change Login screen in alfresco source code, what I need to chnage in alfresco source code. I have changed 2 images in webclient—>source—–>web—>jsp—–>login.jsp. But when I build and deploy it in tomcat, it always showing me the old alfresco login screen. Help needed.
