achieve Wiki - PDF guides synch

As I read that the wiki and the PDF documentation (Getting started guide, admin. guide, …) has a risk to get out of synch some day, I wonder if there is a possibility to get the PDF documents generated out of the wiki.

From the wiki, it should be possible to get the content as xml, process it with xslt then process the result with FOP to get a pdf.

Prerequisite is to be able to group and sequence the pages, but that should be possible by adding a new aspect, wouldn't it ?
Or just making the xml extraction "strongly custom" with well-know wiki pages.

What do you think of this ? Are these steps technically possible ?

Technically, possible, but practically painful.  I did start working this way, but maintaining content in MediaWiki with lots of screens was just hard work.  It was easier to work in a word processor.

Paul,

Therefore, to avoid having guides and wiki in an unsynch state, a way could be to get the wiki pages generated from the guides.

Or maybe to remove what is duplicate in the wiki (regarding the guides) by links to the pdf guides …

My 2 pences, just sharing my thoughts
