A little usabillity issue when several pages exist

If one has several pages of data or spaces, lets say 9, and then enters into a chosen space, or does any action on a document on that 9th page, there is no way to go one step back. For example, editing properties on a document in a 9th page, after you finish, drops you back to the first page. Also, entering a space on a 9th page of spaces (and not finding what you've searched for), there's no way to go back to 9th page, you can just go one level up in spaces list menu on top of page, which brings you, well, onto a 1st page of browsed spaces. Or you can do what users find the most intuitive: push a back browser button. Which you still haven't fixed yet, and leads to one click "swallowed", and weird thing to happen.

All of this is kind of clunky. Navigator helps a bit, but it is not to intuitive.

While this doesn't answer your question/complaint/feature enhancement request, you can configure by default how many items are listed in a space (for both spaces and content items).  See:
http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Simple_Customisations#Changing_the_Default_View_in_Web_Client

When browsing a space you can also change (for your session) the number of pages displayed - enter a new value in Items Per Page, say from 9 to 50.

An alternative is to reconsider your folder structure (over 100 folders in a space seems quite a lot in one space, from an end user perspective and not knowing what the situtaion is Smiley Happy ).

I'm not sure what is unintuitive with the Navigator - I think it is a great addition to Alfresco, and works very similar to Windows Explorer).

Thnks, I know that. Didn't mean to criticize Navigator (which IS intuitive), it is just not intuitive for this particular purpose Smiley Wink

Customers do have deep folder structures, and even if not, they do have lots of documents in some folders.  And, customers like customers, for them it IS intuitive to push back browser button, especially if menu link or close/done action transfers them back to the first page.

So yep, that would be usability enhancement request. Which we will solve for now with more default items per space.

Thanks for answer.
