Workstation unable to create site

We are trying to set up Alfresco as a class project.  We are using Alfresco-3.4.d.  We have succesfully installed it on our server running CentOS 5.6.  If we log in on the server we can create new sites but if we use a workstation on the same subnet we cannot.  The popup window does nothing after you press "OK".  I have turned off the firewall on the Alfresco server with no change.  I can find no record in the logs that gives me a hint to the issue.

Is there something that we are missing?  Does it need to be configured differently?

Thank you for any help with this issue!!

This seems to be a Windows issue.  I tried from another computer running Linux and it can create sites but the windows 7 workstation cannot.

I also tried the windows 7 workstation with the its firewall turned off and still no joy.  It is running java 6 just like the server.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Just another update.  It is not Windows 7 that is the culprate but Internet Explorer 9.  I have tried Firefox on these machines and they are able to create content.

I there a setting that needs to be changed in Internet Explorer 9?  Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks Again for any insight!

We don't support IE9 and our QA department haven't had a chance to test it yet. Is there an error being reported (I think IE9 comes with some kind of error reporting console?)

Thanks,
Mike

There is no error to report.  When I try to create a site the form window pops up.  I fill out the form and click on "OK" and nothing happens it just sits there indefinately.  The window does not go away, content is not created, and Alfresco does not report that contect is being created as it does with other browsers.

I have seen the error reporting feature pop on ie9 when there has been an error on the page but I can't figure out how to turn it manually when there is not an error on the page.  I Googled around with no luck.

Thanks!

Putting ie9 into "copatability mode" does the trick.  There should be a torn piece of paper in the right hand of the address bar.  Click on that and then you can creat content.

Cheers!

Until you do I suggest adding in <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" > by default to alfresco share html head. This should solve all IE9 problems temporarily until you find the time to test and update. It will prevent the user forum from being bombarded with questions as IE9 is becoming increasingly more popular.

The problems are most likely due to the Yahoo Widgets javascript used in Share. A lot of my sites and web applications that use (old) javascript libraries (e.g. mootools 1.2) have problems with IE9.
