Looking in C:\alfresco, I don't see an Alfresco.log. Searching C:\ found nothing.

I have at least one Java application (MapTool) that works both as a client and as a server.

I am aware of the following security software on my system:
1. NVIDIA ActiveArmor Firewall
2. Windows Firewall
3. McAfee VirusScan Enterprise
4. McAfee Antispyware Enterprise Module
5. Windows Defender.
I leave #1 turned off all the time. I tried Alfresco both with #2-4 on and with #2-4 off. I haven't tried turning #5 off and testing Alfresco, but I doubt that is the problem.
Have you validated Alfresco against jdk-6u3-windows-i586-p.exe on a fully-patched Windows XP Pro SP2 machine with directx-9.0c?
TIA,
