Share and workspace (Newbie)

I have share set up and a separate workplace set up for document management. I assumed the workplace dashlet would connect them together but it doesn't. Any suggestions. I now have a document repository and numerous share sites. I would like to connect them together.

The workspace dashlet is for working with the SharePoint connectivity.

Share expects documents to be managed separately across Sites. You can use the Explorer client to either copy or move documents into Share's library if you want them to be available with the Share client.

Thanks,

What is the share workspace? I see the document dashlet which accesses the document workspace is there a separate workspace for the workspace applet to access

Also am I correct in thinking that the document workspace is share is a watered down version of the standard workspace so a probable scenario might be to have a document repository set up with webdav or CIFS and separate share spaces my endusers can expand and modify?

It looks like alfresco has a lot of overlapping tools to do the same thing and it is difficult for a beginner to figure out which way to go

Share currently provides a subset of functionality that the Explorer client provides. However, we believe it does so in a much more intuitive and usable way.

I'm not clear as to what you're asking. All Share document library spaces are accessible through CIFS, FTP and WebDAV.

Please clarify exactly what you're trying to achieve.

Thanks,
Mike

Maybe I missed it but I didn't realize that a share document library can be CIFS. Are there instructions some place.

My original plan was to set up a document repository using explorer and then use Share for more collaborative sites. ie as a law firm we would use standard document management features for day to  day word processing files and share sites would be devoted to generic information such as background articles etc. Some WP documents would be moved to share to create forms or as examples.

I guess I could do the whole thing as a share setup with CIFS or el;se keep going the way I am.
