Hi,

I am unable to start alfresco after installation. When I do http://localhost:8080/alfresco – HTTP Status 404 - The requested resource (/alfresco/) not available.

I have installed the following on my Windows XP machine :-
1) java - C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_14
2) mysql - C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0 (tested and it works fine)
3) alfresco - C:\alfresco (alfresco-enterprise-tomcat-2.1.0.zip)

I have read the installation guide, README.txt and README_mysql.txt and have followed all the instructions for database configuration, modified the custom-repository.properties and custom-hibernate-dialect.properties. I have even setup the JAVA_HOME environment variable accordingly.

Initially my folder was named C:/Alfresco and now I changed it to C:/alfresco, but even this did not make any difference.

When I do a http://localhost:8080/ – I am able to able to see the tomcat console.

But, when I do http://localhost:8080/alfresco – It says HTTP Status 404 - The requested resource (/alfresco/) not available.

I have read a lot of forums, but no luck. Please help.

Regards

Am trying to install the alfresco version 2.1 on tomcat with Windows.
Anyone with the similar problem?

Hi aartheeraj,

I am experiencing a similar problem, I installed Alfresco using a pre-built package from http://bitnami.org/stack/alfresco, as I had all manner of problems trying to get MySQL working myself.

It has worked fine for the last few days, although starting up my computer this evening, I am experiencing the same problem.

The following services are all running successfully:
alfrescoMySQL
alfrescoOpenOffice
alfrescoTomcat

http://127.0.0.1:8080/ works
http://127.0.0.1:8080/alfresco/ gives the following error:

HTTP Status 404 - /alfresco/

type Status report

message /alfresco/

description The requested resource (/alfresco/) is not available.
Apache Tomcat/5.5.25

Running Start > Run > cmd > netstat -a showed the service on Port 8080 to be in the FN_WAIT_2 state (more info on that error available here:  http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/misc/fin_wait_2.html.

Rebooting got the service back to an ESTABLISHED state, although I still cannot access: http://127.0.0.1:8080/alfresco/.

Ack… I am really liking Alfresco, but cannot depend on it, if I am going to get lots of errors. Not being familiar with programming, I fear this becoming a bit of a minefield to fix if once (sucessfully) implemented it ever goes wrong!

Hi

Please find the Alfresco.log file and post the problems here, which should help diagnose the problem.

Thanks,
Mike
