enable search of 'comments'?

Not sure if this post belongs in this forum, but since this is the client we're working with, I guess it's as good as any…

I'd like to enable the ability to search the "Comments" users add to folders, documents, basically any node where the option is presented in Share.  So far my testing doesn't return any results when trying to search comments.

Is there a quick "formula" to enable this?  Is there some type or cm: property that I just need to toggle to be indexed, and then I can add the property to the default search list for the "quick search"?

Well it seems like the commenting is implemented using the forum-model, that is, a commented document gets a child of type fm:discussion, with another child fm:comments and the comment itself is added as content to another child of type fmost. If you lookup the forum model they probably have disabled indexing for this type of content. Maybe you can enable it again, but the search result will not point to the document but to the forum-post…

Ugh.  That makes it a bit hokey, and hard to enable what I thought was going to be some simple functionality…
