We would like to announce that the V1.4 Community Candidate Release of Alfresco is now available.  This release introduces a number of new features, including:
    - Business Process Managment (jBPM integration)
    - Records Management
    - Audit Trail
    - Open Document Format support
    - More JavaScript actions
    - Much greater performance and stability under high loads
    - My Alfresco Dashboard
    - Virtual Custom Desktop executables
This release is only intended for evaluation and feedback.  There are database schema changes, details are in the release notes.

We are experimenting with a new cross-platform installer, so feedback on experiences with it are appreciated.  We plan to extend the capabilities of installers if feedback is good.

The open source version is available to download at: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=143373

Release notes for V1.4 can be found in our wiki here: http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Release_1.4

Please see http://www.alfresco.com if you are interested in the Enterprise Network edition.  If you are already a partner or customer, the Enterprise 1.4 Preview will be available in the usual download location.

Thank you again for your continued support,

The Alfresco Team.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It seems to take at least 24 hours for SourceForge to update its mirrors for the downloads to become available!

How do you enable Audit trail? or where are the audit logs?

Follow the link to the Release Notes, then follow the link about the Audit Trail.

Collaboration feature: Calendar, Blogs or Wiki – The choice is yours. We will add one of these features as a type of space in Alfresco in the 1.4 timeframe. The probable choice is a wiki based upon either JSPwiki or Snip-Snap

Will this happen or not?? I still didn't see anything about a wiki space type in candidate 1.

Thanks you in advance for the answer,

Danilo

Freshly after installing the linux binary candidate 1 of 1.4 in a SUSE Linux version 2.6.5-7.282-default I got the following error message when atempting to run the application:

An error has occurred during installation

"which $browser"
    (procedure "::InstallJammer::actions::LaunchWebBrowser" line 33)

Going back to Alfresco 1.3 for now…

Any ideas on how to solve the issue?

Danilo

Hi Danilo

Your install posting would be better placed in the Installation topic.

What you're seeing is just a weakness in the test installer - it's not finding a default application to launch the web client URL.  We'll investigate and see if there's a more robust mechanism.  If you deselect all the options on the final page of the install wizard, then click Finish, it should close properly.

If you've got to this stage, it has installed Alfresco.

Meantime, (if it isn't already) start the Alfresco server, start a browser and use the same old URL.

The wiki functionality didn't happen - we were hoping to be able to integrate a contribution, but it didn't work out.  Building a basic blog out of the existing capabilities should be straight-forward (Freemarker Template).  We will still get Wiki capabilities as some point - it's just a question of balancing priorities, currently.  If someone wants to help on this, great 🙂

Paul.
