Hi,

I tried using Spring 3.1.0.RELEASE with Activiti 5.9 and got the following error, the same Unit test works fine with Spring 3.0.5.RELEASE, seems like that particular spring core class is removed in the latest release of Spring and so that causes issue when running my Activiti unit test

org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'processEngineConfiguration' defined in class path resource [activiti.cfg.xml]: Instantiation of bean failed; nested exception is java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/springframework/core/convert/support/PropertyTypeDescriptor

Thanks Jorg, I think it is a Maven issue as I use maven to manage my Spring dependencies

below is the snippet of pom that fixed the issue for me

  <dependency>
    <groupId>org.activiti</groupId>
    <artifactId>activiti-engine</artifactId>
    <version>${activiti-version}</version>
            <exclusions>
                <exclusion>
                    <groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
                    <artifactId>spring-beans</artifactId>
                </exclusion>
            </exclusions>
  </dependency>
  <dependency>
    <groupId>org.activiti</groupId>
    <artifactId>activiti-spring</artifactId>
    <version>${activiti-version}</version>
            <exclusions>

                    <groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
                    <artifactId>spring-beans</artifactId>
                </exclusion>
