The behavior I want is, on Edit, for changes to metadata only that the existing version be overwritten with those changes. For uploads of new files, I'd like to force minor or major versioning.

I want to do this using CMIS. I thought setting the 'Skip version increment' option as the default should be used in my scenario. But that option seems to already be set as the default. Using the UI for Nuxeo 5.9.5, when I edit metadata and click 'Save' with the 'skip version increment' option selected, it leaves the document in a checked out state. If I select either 'minor' or 'major', the document is not checked out after saving.

Why does the document continue to be checked out after Save when 'skip version increment' is selected?
