document templating in nuxeo 5.6-RC2

i am using nuxeo connect 5.6-RC2 to create a template and Render it. I want to create my own xml file which contains the data and want to parse it to render the template . XML document stored as variable ,'sample'. Is it possible to use my custom xml's variables like this in the template??
