Alfresco Process Services upgrade from 1.x to 24.x

Hi,

To upgrade APS from 1.x to 24.x, is it necessary to jump first to 2.x?

I have just noticed this entry in documentation:

This only appears from version 24.4 onwards, not in earlier versions.

Months ago we upgraded an env from 1.9.05 to 24.2 and everything went well and it is working ok.

Is it really necessary to this?:
1.x --> 2.x --> 24.x/25.x
