topic "Link Target" in Wiki/TinyMCE getting filtered out in Alfresco Forum

I posted this issue on the Alfresco Share community git, as I believe this to be a UI bug:
https://github.com/Alfresco/alfresco-community-share/issues/28

Essentially, the TinyMCE editor embedded within Alfresco Share, for editing things like wiki pages, has a feature where when you create a link you can set its "target". The "target" determines whether a link opens in a new tab or the same tab by default.

This feature isn't working however, because the HTML attributes this option sets are getting filtered out by Alfresco Share when the page is presented. I can make it work by enabling "allowUnfilteredHTML" in page.get.config.xml, but obviously I'd rather not disable HTML filtering in my production instance.

Would anyone know of a fix or workaround for this?
