How do I select a workflow to display variables

In the workflow admin console, I run the var command. I get nothing. I read in the documentation that should show all the variables in the currently selected workflow.

How do I select workflow for use in the workflow console?

The answer is "use definition {workflow_id}" That basically loads it. Then do a "start {name=value} to start the workflow with optional vars
