This is an update on our progress toward a new reference deployment of Alfresco Content Services based on Docker containers.Customer ResearchOur larger customers broadly appear to be adopting Docker and Kubernetes, and our Certified Partners have expressed enthusiasm about moving in that direction.

I discussed the AWS QuickStart usage with the relevant Product Manager (Mark Howarth), and he did not find that result to be surprising.

The AWS QuickStarts are predominantly used by our large customers.
It is a relatively new deployment approach.
It is recommended to be used as a basis for a custom deployment, rather than used to directly deploy to production. For example, there are additional security configurations that customers should consider for their environments.

Though Alfresco recommends the Quick Start to be considered only a basis, I am still perplexed why that basis includes / allows AWS resource constellations that can't remotely match Alfresco performance recommendations from the Zero-Day guides. From what I have seen in a community customer AWS infrastructure review last year, EBS is abysmal for IO (Repository temp files, conversions or index) unless you significantly over-provision and/or add software level RAID to it. It's also a bit surprising that the keyword "performance" occurs only once in the quick start deployment guide.
